Low head dams and reservoirs

Low Head Hydro Projects

Patent No. US 7,843,099 B2

This figure illustrates a siphon system to generate electric power from low head dams and reservoirs previously deemed economically unsuitable for hydroelectric power.

A Hollow Pump,™ or an all-in-one Hollow Pump / Generator,™ fills a pipeline with water from behind the dam. Once the pipeline is full the valve is closed to allow for the disconnection of the pump. Reopening the valve allows water to be siphoned through the Hollow Generator™ and transferred downstream.

The exiting water could also be electrolyzed with the generated electricity and provide another source of hydrogen and oxygen gases.
